Linked below is the Design Brief that has been developed from the New Village Hall working group final summary report.
With only four remaining members, the Oldhamstocks Village Hall Redevelopment Group is of the opinion that it has reached as far as it can and that the purpose, membership and remit of any future village hall working group will need reviewed in order to make further progress, towards developing options for the new hall. The Group has therefore produced a summary report of work done to date.
The OCA Committee Would like to thank the Oldhamstocks Village Hall Redevelopment Group for all of the hard work they have put in to progress the new hall.
This newsletter gives an excellent summary of options that the OCA Committee explored for a new village hall. This highlighted work that was done to reduce the cost of the Simpson and Brown design to a build cost of £577k and hence a estimated cost which include contingency, inflation, professional fees and VAT on fees, to £674k
Following a survey which returned the following suggested uses of community funding (people could choose more than one option), the local community was also asked what uses the village hall could be put to.
In 2013 the OCA decided that the constant maintenance of the fabric of the hall had reached a critical stage. They invited an architect to inspect the building and give some options for refurbishing.
As far back as the late 1970’s there were problems maintaining the hall roof and windows. In 1996 the Committee applied for national funding to rebuild the hall stating ” The present hall is of a wooden construction and was purchased second hand from the MOD Circa 1952 and is now somewhat worse for wear.
