Hall Build – Week 35

Busy week for the TRF guys, working on two sections at once. The stone masons have started work rebuilding and repairing the sections of the village green wall that are able to be finalised at this point in the build. A strong requirement from the council Planning department has always been that the as much of the original stone wall as possible is kept or restored. The stone that was taken from wall in the early stages is now being redressed and restored and it looks great!

Meanwhile, much higher off the ground, the roof has started to go up! Most of the roof main beams are “JJI-Joists” – very strong engineered timber prefab beams. A large number of these have now been cut to length and angle, and the build team have made a solid start in raising the first section in the north-west corner.

And for those interested in the fine aesthetic detail, we now have samples of the larch cladding that will cover the walls of the main building and the front of the outbuilding. The very smart, smooth planed V-Channel cladding is sourced from our local sawmill in Abby St Bathans.
